Did you know Gibbs, PV School Therapy Dog, spends part of his summer in professional training? This July, he attended a 10-day program in Minnesota to refine skills essential for his role as Prairie View’s Therapy Dog:
• Navigating busy city sidewalks
• Staying calm at outdoor cafés amid motorcycle noise and other dogs
• Entering stores while maintaining a loose leash
• Offering polite, confident greetings to people and animals
This fall, Gibbs will enter Year 3 as Prairie View’s certified Therapy Dog. To maintain his certification, he completes regular vet checks, ongoing training sessions, and volunteer visits at nursing homes and assisted living facilities alongside his handler, Jill Max.
Talk about being a lifelong learner! Way to go, Gibbs!
