At the December OPSD School Board meeting, the board honored 3 model students and one dedicated staff member! These students & staff have shown what it means to do things “The OG Way.” They are risk-takers in and out of the classroom, show grit in all they do, and take ownership of their learning. We are so proud of our December students of the month, Zuryiah Owens-Reed (elementary), Lily Goulding (middle grades), Tylee Wang (high school), and staff of the month, Tina Easter! Keep up the great work! We greatly appreciate our community sponsors for donating prizes for these individuals to honor their accomplishments! #GoBigO #OGIndians #TheOGWay #CultureOfConfidence

Prairie View Deaf & Hard of Hearing Teacher, Miss Dawn, and Abel have been teaching Abel's 3rd-grade classmates holiday words in sign language. Last week the class had the opportunity to play 'I Have Who Has - Christmas Edition' using only sign language! It was a fun challenge for all students! We love that our students have the opportunity to showcase their learning and teach each other!

We would like to take a moment to honor and express our deepest gratitude to OPSD School Board Member, Jim Ayres. Monday evening marked Mr. Ayres' final board meeting, closing out 15 remarkable years of service to our district, from 2009 to 2024.
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Ayres demonstrated unwavering dedication to our schools, students, and community. He served as Board President numerous times, leading with integrity and vision. His efforts were instrumental in strengthening OPSD’s financial position and securing a School Resource Officer, leaving a lasting legacy of safety and stability.
Mr. Ayres’ commitment, leadership, and passion for education have made a profound impact on OPSD. While we will greatly miss his presence on the board, we wish him all the best in his next chapter and thank him for his extraordinary service.
