Mrs. Lee's 8th Grade ELA classes wrapped up their Thrill of Horror unit. They were tasked with choosing a story from the unit, writing a movie trailer script, creating a storyboard, and filming the movie trailer for that story. These students took ownership as they managed their time to complete their projects. They also showed a tremendous amount of grit through the editing process. #CultureOfConfidence

Students in Mr. Kenkel's microbiology lab had a task to submit a pure culture and identify the type of bacteria (cocci, bacillus, spirillum) and whether the bacteria were gram-positive or gram-negative using the Gram stain, which is a procedure to determine what type of antibiotic could be used to neutralize the bacteria. #CultureOfConfidence

The first and second graders have been "heart" at work in the music room for the past two weeks. They have been using heartbeat strips to write their own rhythm patterns. After some practice, they joined four strips together to write a four-measure rhythm composition. When they mastered clapping the song, they played it on a bass bar. The final step was moving to the xylophone and matalophone instruments to turn the rhythm into a melodic composition. We love hearing the music that they created! #CultureOfConfidence

Mrs. Coggins and some Kindergarten students are head over heels to be at school! They are demonstrating an example of “heavy work.” Heavy work benefits young and older learners in many ways, including self-regulation and feeling calmer. It is also proven to strengthen muscles, aid body awareness, improve clarity, focus, and alertness, and extend one’s attention span. #CultureOfConfidence

Dear Prairie View Parents and Guardians, We hope this finds you and your family well. Our school district is excited to announce a new fundraiser aimed at enhancing the school experiences of both students and teachers, “Say No to Cookie Dough”! The fundraiser will benefit all students, K-8, and all staff. ***Grades K-1 will not be participating in the fundraiser!*** The fundraiser is simple: each student is asked to gather 10 donations of $10 each, for a total of $100 raised per student. We understand that this is a challenging time for many families, and we appreciate any support you are able to provide. Whether through a donation or by sharing this opportunity with friends and family, every little bit helps. To support our students, we have set up an online donation platform that makes contributing easy and secure. You can access the platform by visiting our school district’s website or using the link and QR Code on the attached flier. This is a ‘cash-less’ fundraiser, Checks made out to Ogallala Public Schools or Online donations only. We would like to thank you in advance for your support and generosity. With your help, we can create a better learning environment for all of our students and teachers. Sincerely, Prairie View Principals

At the February OPSD School Board meeting, the board honored 3 model students! These students have shown what it means to do things “The OG Way.” They are risk-takers in and out of the classroom. They show grit in all they do. And they take ownership of their learning. We are so proud of our February students of the month, Ridley Cone (elementary), Jagger Barnhill (middle grades), and Hailey Webber (high school). Keep up the great work! We greatly appreciate our community sponsors for donating prizes for these individuals to honor their accomplishments! #GoBigO #OGIndians #TheOGWay
