At the May OPSD School Board meeting, the board honored 3 model students and one dedicated educator! These students & staff have shown what it means to do things “The OG Way.” They are risk-takers in and out of the classroom, show grit in all they do, and take ownership of their learning. We are so proud of our May students of the month, Adeline Feeney (elementary), Taryn Namuth (middle grades), Presley Nowak (high school), and teacher of the month, Dan Stokey ! OHS Staff had the opportunity to travel to Fort Collins to participate in an engaging and thrilling team building activity! The staff was broken into 4 teams and used their critical thinking skills to try to get out of an escape room. It was a fun time for all! Huge thanks to Mr. O'Neill for planning the trip!

Caleb Castillo capped off an impressive high school career with a fourth trip to the state tournament. Caleb shot a pair of 82s to finished tied for 21st place at a challenging Scottsbluff Country Club. Congratulations Caleb on an outstanding high school golf career and for representing the Indians bery well! Best of luck in whatever lies ahead in your future! Prairie View 1st graders will sure miss Mrs. Armstrong next year! The 3 classes worked together to create a beautiful keepsake quilt for Mrs. Armstrong to remember them by. It was a heartwarming moment for everyone! Huge shout-out to Mrs. Ginni Huntimer for putting the quilt together for the students!

We are proud to present Rachel Max, Tara Sudbeck, and Rosa Zimmerman as the PVE, OMG, and OHS Teachers of the Year (respectively) and Eric Pohlson as the Staff Member of the Year. Mrs. Sudbeck's 7th-grade science students have been learning about Nebraska's endangered species, animal populations, and our resources. Conservation Officer Hunter Lee presented to the class and also helped with the trash cleanup at Humphrey's Pond. PVE Kindergarten students completed their study of the Ladybug Life Cycle. Tessa Reese from the UNL, 4H Extension, presented to the kindergarten students 4 times over 4 weeks. She taught the students all about ladybugs, their lifecycle, and why they are helpful to us! At the last presentation, students were able to set their hatched Pink Spotted ladybugs free! This was a fun experience for all the kindergarten students! #CultureOfConfidence
