At the May OPSD School Board meeting, the board honored 3 model students and one dedicated educator! These students & staff have shown what it means to do things “The OG Way.” They are risk-takers in and out of the classroom, show grit in all they do, and take ownership of their learning. We are so proud of our May students of the month, Leroy Gonzales (elementary), Chloe Waterman (middle grades), Gavin Anderson (high school), and staff member of the month, Jami Mayden! Keep up the great work! We greatly appreciate our community sponsors for donating prizes for these individuals to honor their accomplishments! #GoBigO #OGIndians #TheOGWay #CultureOfConfidence

These middle school readers CRUSHED Mrs. Max's 500,000 word challenge! Mrs. Max tasked all middle schoolers to read half a million words during the second semester. These readers rose to the occasion and read well over that amount (some even reading nearly 2 million words)! As a reward for reaching their goal, Mrs. Max brought them breakfast during their first period! A huge thank you to our fabulous Prairie View PTO for sponsoring the breakfast! Great job to Collins, Avery, Briar, Delanie, RaeLynn, and Ava (not pictured).

Elise Samuelson, Andy Wilson and Claire Roberts, all 3rd grade students, enjoyed a delicious dinner at Front Street last week. They had some special dinner companions ... their 3rd grade teachers! The girls completed the 3rd Grade Caldecott Challenge of reading 75+ Caldecott Award books throughput the course of the school year. During dinner the girls thought it would be fun to try Tabasco sauce... needless to say, they were asked how their tongues were feeling the next day!!
A huge thank you to Prairie View PTO for sponsoring this dinner each year. We are so appreciative of the support you give our staff and students!

Ogallala Public Schools and the OPSD Foundation are proud to present the 2024/25 Teacher, Coach, and Staff Member of the Year! We are proud to present Heather Orth as Teacher of the Year, Andy Gillen as Coach of the Year, and Kellie Johnson as the Staff Member of the Year. We are so incredibly proud of our educators for their commitment to our students!
OPSF received 71 nominations for 27 individuals. We are honored and proud to say we have so many committed and worthy educators working in our schools!

Apryl and Ellena from Mrs. Feeney’s first-grade class put their PBIS points to great use — by choosing to read to younger students! Apryl visited Mrs. Staab’s kindergarten class, and Ellena shared a story with Mrs. Fehr’s kinders. These sweet reading moments not only brought smiles but also showed how our students are growing into positive role models. We love seeing kids use their rewards in ways that build community and encourage a love of reading!

Mr. Slama, Prairie View Elementary Principal, gave our elementary students a MAPS testing challenge... if 2-5th grade students met their MAPS Testing goal of 75% of students growing by 4 RIT points from fall to spring testing session, he would get a new hairstyle. After CRUSHING his challenge, students had the opportunity to vote if Mr. Slama would have his head shaved or hair colored... check out the final results! Seeing students show growth is worth the new 'do! #CultureOfConfidence
