Prairie View 1st-graders Will, Teagan, Harper, and Siennah and 2nd-grader Tatum, made a fantastic choice with their PBIS points—they used them to lend a helping hand in the library! These eager students enjoyed pushing the library cart and going on the collection route, checking in books, and making sure they were ready to return to the shelves. Their enthusiasm and teamwork made a big difference—thank you for being such awesome library assistants! #CultureOfConfidence

First-grade students have been reading stories about how animals help people. They read about guide dogs and the important jobs they do. Students then had the opportunity to host special guest speakers Jill Max and Gibbs, Prairie View School Therapy Dog! Mrs. Max and Gibbs took this opportunity to teach 1st-graders about Gibbs’s job as a school therapy dog! It was an engaging and exciting presentation!

Mrs. Van Velson's Transitional Kindergarten class has been working hard on shapes! The students loved this hands-on activity of making shapes with play dough! As they were making each shape, they discussed the attributes of that shape. We love seeing our students highly engaged in their learning!

Mrs. Waitley's 3rd-grade learners have been learning about how scientists use living animals to learn more about dinosaurs by comparing their bones. In one of their recent activities, the students measured their leg length and had to test to see if they could outrun a dinosaur! We love this hands-on and engaging approach to teaching science!

1st grade student, Ellena redeemed her PBIS reward and chose to 'Read to a Class'—a perfect opportunity to build confidence as a reader! She selected Green Eggs and Ham and shared the joy of reading with Mrs. VanVelson’s junior kindergarten—her sister’s class! What a wonderful way to inspire younger students while strengthening her own reading skills!

High School Bowling Districts were in Lexington today and our OHS Bowling Squad left with some hardware! On the boys side Isaac Orth earned a medal for 10th place and Bradyn Heilman earned a medal for 4th place AND earned a trip to the State Championship next Monday! On the girls side Angel Martinez earned a medal for 9th place. The girls team also came home with the class B6 district runner up award!

Middle school science students participated in a poster contest through the Southwest Department of Health promoting awareness of radon and its potential for harm. It is in fact the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer and it often goes undetected! Several students were finalists, and three of Ogallala’s own were the top 3 participants!
