The Kearney Health Opportunities Program (KHOP) is a medical scholarship between UNK and UNMC covering many specialties. This program takes kids from rural Nebraska and puts them through undergrad, saving them an automatic spot into Medical School at UNMC. After Med-School for their specialties, these students return to practice in rural Nebraska. KHOP comes with a learning community, trips to UNMC, and other opportunities not available to a normal pre-med student.
Erica Hesser, an OHS Senior, applied for the medicine division of KHOP, one of the most competitive spots. As a Pre-Medicine Student, she hopes to one day become a family physician. We are so excited to see where the future takes her!
