Martin Rivas began working as a paraeducator in the Skills Academy Center at Prairie View Schools in 2014. His job responsibilities can be challenging as his daily work involves working with students who have significant trials when it comes to conforming to the regular classroom setting. Mr. Rivas brings a positive mindset into the classroom with high expectations for students to be respectful, responsible and safe. He is a true role model for the students he encounters each day.

Mr. Rivas is a talented artist and uses his artwork and artistic sills to teach students how finding something they love to do can provide an outlet for them during difficult times. Many of the students Mr. Rivas encounters on a daily basis are the most "at risk" students. For some individuals this would be stressful but Mr. Rivas maintains a positive attitude developing a strong reliance on trust and respect between himself and his students. He is a natural for building positive relationships with students. He is their coach, mentor, team player and a force for those who cannot help themselves. Mr. Rivas is always mindful of the dignity of students even in the most difficult situations.
