Why 1:1?

1:1 initiatives provide each student- and teacher- with a laptop computer.  The technology is always available.  As outlined in Apple's "1:1 Learning" white paper, the effort to provide students with pervasive technology is usually driven by 4 of goals:

• Improving Student Achievement- Students show improvement on statewide assessments and less discipline problems...but more importantly, they are learning the skills they need for the 21st century.

• Advancing Digital Equity-Regardless of their economic status, family background, gender or race, all students have real access to technology. 

• Enhancing Teaching and Learning- Learning with laptops tends to be more rigorous and more authentic.  It's a more "hands-on" and real-world way to learn.

• Strengthening Economic Development- Nebraska students gain the skills necessary to compete in a global economy.
