Search Engines

• Google- An excellent general purpose search.  Use the "Image Search" to find pictures!
• Ask Jeeves- Type in a question (What players are on the Denver Broncos?) and then use the follow-up questions to get more exact information.
• Yahooligans - Search for general information about topics. This search engine provides one of the best ways to get started when you don't know where to go for general topics of interest for students. (dogs, NFL, holidays, countries...)
• Dogpile - Use this meta-search engine to search several search engines at once. Type in your words or phrases, using quotation marks if necessary.
• Excite.com- Type in a phrase. Use the MORE LIKE THIS button if you find a site close to what you are looking for. Again, use + and - to narrow your search.
• Internet Public Library
• Elementary Search Engines - sometimes simple searches can be productive. Try these search engines from the Elementary Resources Page.
