Search
Engines (especially good for kids!)
-
Yahooligans - Search for general information about
topics. This search engine provides one of the best ways
to get started when you don't know where to go. (dogs,
football, holidays, countries...) .
- KidsClick! - Another search for general
information. This site was created by librarians for
students to use. It's very simple...either type in a
topic or click on a letter. (same as for Yahooligans)
- Ask
Jeeves for Kids- If
you have specific question to ask or know what kind of
information you need, try Ask Jeeves. (How do fish
breathe? Where can I find a picture of Marlon Brando? How
high are the mountains in Colorado? )
- Little Explorers - Although aimed at
primary-aged students, anyone will find this site
helpful. It includes easy definitions, web sites, and
usually has good PICTURES too! Just click on the letter
of the alphabet your topic starts with and you're off! (Penguins,
dinosaurs, bats...)
- Awesome Library -Gives good, comprehensive
results
- World Book Online Encyclopedia - You'll need to be on a
school computer to make full use of this site.
