Ogallala Public Schools is going online!
Next fall, Ogallala Public Schools will be utilizing an online course management system called Sakai.  Sakai will enable teachers to administer assignments, tests and quizzes online.  Students will also be able to collaborate with each other in class discussions or projects.  This is a huge step forward for technology in our school and will allow teachers and students to get the most out of their computers.

What is Sakai?
Sakai (pronounced Suh-Kie) is an open-source system provided free of charge.  It was originally developed as a collaborative effort between Stanford, Berkeley, MIT, Indiana University and the University of Michigan.  These institutions saw a need for a well-built, custom system to deliver course material online.

This course management system is perfect for Ogallala for a number of reasons: it's absolutely free of charge, was built by a group of notable universities, and has an expansive support community spanning the world.  Also, this system was recently adopted by the Nebraska State College system, which is a huge benefit for any students who may continue their education at Chadron, Peru, or Wayne.

Look for this great new system, coming soon.
